Set up in 2014, the TOTAL ART WORK OF THE FUTURE SOCIAL ORDER Online Residency Programme has five blogs available now:
THE GREAT HIDDEN LAND* A concentration of all the dead links of Chinese people, a solitary island floating in the virtual ocean.
secret love Here we only talk about love. The blog will erase all the words you type in except LOVE.
h-t-m-l timer A mock version of human memory, this blog can only record 10 piece of journal. The rest would be fading with time.
myblogismygirlfriend A blog who menstruates. You cannot type in anything or even leave a comment sometimes in a mouth. the blog will tell you: "I don' want to talk to you now, and I feel like crap and there's nothing I can do about it, so I'm looking for something else to change and hoping that it will make me feel better.”
h-t-m-l meteorological trifles The content of every post is related to the weather of that day. The worse the weather is, the worse the legibility of the text is.
Using these blogs as a base, our resident can build certain virtual identity online. Every blog has its own structure and function. If you are interested in applying, please write mail to finweiyi(at)gmail.com (up to 500 words), articulating 1/ which blog you want to use, 2/ how and why you gonna use it for one year. Deadline for entries: Dec 1, 2014
We try to ensure that there is always an artist in residence in each of our blogs, for a year period (Jan 1- Dec 31, 2015) but this can vary.
*For people who want to apply for THE GREAT HIDDEN LAND, please notice that YOU CAN ONLY REPOST SOMETHING INVISIBLE FOR CHINESE RESIDENTS, for example, stuff from youtube, vimeo or flikr.
h-t-m-l cemeteryA public blog for people who want to make a memorial moment for their abandoned, dead blogs and websites.
h-t-m-l shooting starA public blog for people who want to make a wish. A shooting star sometimes appears on this website. You can see it if you are lucky enough.
These two blogs are open to public totally, you can simply log in and write a new post yourself!
TOTAL ART WORK OF THE FUTURE SOCIAL ORDER is an ongoing project concentrating on following concerns: 1/ to what extent our virtual life can mimic our real life. 2/ could there be a new social order based on such mimicry. the name TOTAL ART WORK OF THE FUTURE SOCIAL ORDER comes from Joseph Beuy's Social Sculpture notion. I chose to use the BLOG format as a tool and a material to make virtual interactive installations. It is for this reason that blog is an easy and widely used way for people to build their identity in the virtual world. To start a blog is to build a new virtual identity, which is to become one small link in the huge virtual social currency. It is different from the Facebook or MySpace because has more independence and freedom.
From that starting point, I am making a series of blogs and giving them different function and character based on what happen in real life. We can get a new life in virtual world, we can fall in virtual love with someone and even have a virtual wedding. If the virtual world is 100% reflection of real life, or if our virtual life could perfectly follow real life, then what we can experience in the virtual world is far more than we thought. If we have a 'second life' in the virtual world, we also have a second death. If we have virtual social life, we also have virtual solitude. What I want to do in this project is to make a expression of this mimicry by using blogs, This expression could be like Marco Polo's expressions of those weird, exotic cities, in Italo Calvino's book invisible cities: indeed they are just reflections on different aspects of Venice. My goal is that these different blogs, which seem to focus on different topics, are focusing on different aspects of the virtual world.

如果你有兴趣申请使用的话,请写信致finweiyi(at)gmail.com(不超过500个单词),说明你想使用的博客、为什么想用它以及怎样使用它。
